1984 George Orwell
1984 is about the terror of the Socialist Party during Orwell's time. I think this book very accurately describes how the Socialist Party manipulated and kept in power using confusion among hte people. In this book, the world will be divided into 3 super nations, Oceania, Eastasia nad Eurasia. Winston Smith, the protagonist, lives in London of Airstrip 1, an alternative name for Britain. We see the world in his point of view about how the government, or the Ministry of Peace, is leaving the people in confusion and ignorance through propaganda and Party slogans. The peolpe are manipulated into beleving everything the Party tells them to. The government is split into 4 differnt sections, The Ministry if Peace, Ministry of Truth, Ministry of Plenty and MInistry of Love. The leader of Oceania is called "Big Brother" and the Party's motto or slogan is "BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU" which keeps the people from doing anything the Party does not want them to do, such as thinking and rebelling. I think that Orwell was trying to tell us that if the Socialist Party took over the world, it would be like the description in 1984.
